Syntax - (Morpho-Syntax)

Hi peeps! How you doing? Welcome back to my blog! So today we'll talk about Syntax! Sit tight and enjoy!
Meet the Professor guys! ↑↑↑
In linguistics, SYNTAX refers to the rules that govern the ways in which words combine to form phrases, clauses, and sentences. It is the concept that enables people to know things like adjective generally come before the nouns they describe (green chair), how to start a question with a question word (what is that?), that subject often come before verbs in non-question sentences (she jogged), prepositional phrases start with prepositions (to the store), helping verbs come before main verbs (can go, will do), and so on.
TYPES OF SYNTAX! (Sentence Structure)
Types of sentences and their syntax modes include simple sentences, compound sentences, complex sentences, and compound-complex sentences. Compound sentences are two simple sentences joined by a conjunction. Complex sentences have dependent clauses, and compound-complex sentences have both types included.
- Simple sentence : The boy ran. Structure → Subject - verb.
- Compound sentence : The boy ran the marathon, and his cousin did, too. Structure → Subject-verb-object-conjunction-subject-verb.
- Complex sentence : Although they were tired after the marathon, the cousins decided to go to a celebration at the park. Structure → Dependent clause-subject-verb-object.
- Compound-complex sentence : Although they weren't fond of crowds, this was different, they decided, because of the common goal that had brought everyone together. Structure → Four clauses, dependent and independent.
So that is the simply and understandable explanation about SYNTAX!

HapusHERE YOU GOOO
Hei ho! Why adjective generally come before the nouns?
BalasHapushi wella. it is the grammar form and it has to be that way also
HapusMost adjectives can go in two main places in a sentence: in attributive position and predicative position.
In attributive position, an adjective comes before the noun it modifies.
She is a nice girl.
She married a rich businessman.
In predicative position, an adjective goes after the verb.
She is nice.
He looked upset.
While attributive adjectives usually go before the nouns, a few can be used after nouns.
This, for example, happens in some fixed phrases.
Secretary General
Poet Laureate
Attorney General
Court martial
Some adjectives ending in -able/-ible can also be used after nouns.
It is the only solution possible.
Book all the tickets available.
After something, everything etc.
Adjectives come after words like something, everything, anything, nothing, somebody, anywhere etc.
I would like to go somewhere quiet. (NOT I would like to go quiet somewhere.)
I heard something interesting today. (NOT I heard interesting something today.)
In most expressions of measurement adjectives come after the measurement noun.
ten years older (NOT Older ten years) (NOT ten older years)
six feet deep
two miles long
Verb + object + adjective
Adjectives can be placed after the object.
You make me happy.
Can you get the children ready for school?
Give more example, but with your own idea

BalasHapusthen you have to read carefully sist, trying to understand it hahah
HapusWhy syntax is important?
BalasHapusbecause you need a good structure when you write, so that people will understand what are the things that you're trying to say. simple.
Hapuscan you give me 2 simple example of each type of syntax ? by your own words okay? plis dont attach the link. im too lazy to searching now
Hapus1. Simple Sentences
HapusA simple sentence has the most basic elements that make it a sentence: a subject, a verb, and a completed thought.
Examples of simple sentences include the following:
Joe waited for the train.
"Joe" = subject, "waited" = verb
The train was late.
"The train" = subject, "was" = verb
Mary and Samantha took the bus.
"Mary and Samantha" = compound subject, "took" = verb
I looked for Mary and Samantha at the bus station.
"I" = subject, "looked" = verb
Mary and Samantha arrived at the bus station early but waited until noon for the bus.
"Mary and Samantha" = compound subject, "arrived" and "waited" = compound verb
2. Compound Sentences
A compound sentence refers to a sentence made up of two independent clauses (or complete sentences) connected to one another with a coordinating conjunction. Coordinating conjunctions are easy to remember if you think of the words "FAN BOYS":
For
And
Nor
But
Or
Yet
So
Examples of compound sentences include the following:
Joe waited for the train, but the train was late.
I looked for Mary and Samantha at the bus station, but they arrived at the station before noon and left on the bus before I arrived.
Mary and Samantha arrived at the bus station before noon, and they left on the bus before I arrived.
Mary and Samantha left on the bus before I arrived, so I did not see them at the bus station.
3. Complex Sentences
A complex sentence is made up of an independent clause and one or more dependent clauses connected to it. A dependent clause is similar to an independent clause, or complete sentence, but it lacks one of the elements that would make it a complete sentence.
Examples of dependent clauses include the following:
because Mary and Samantha arrived at the bus station before noon
while he waited at the train station
after they left on the bus
Dependent clauses such as those above cannot stand alone as a sentence, but they can be added to an independent clause to form a complex sentence.
Dependent clauses begin with subordinating conjunctions. Below are some of the most common subordinating conjunctions:
after
although
as
because
before
even though
if
since
though
unless
until
when
whenever
whereas
wherever
while
A complex sentence joins an independent clause with one or more dependent clauses.
The dependent clauses can go first in the sentence, followed by the independent clause, as in the following:
Tip: When the dependent clause comes first, a comma should be used to separate the two clauses.
Because Mary and Samantha arrived at the bus station before noon, I did not see them at the station.
While he waited at the train station, Joe realized that the train was late.
After they left on the bus, Mary and Samantha realized that Joe was waiting at the train station.
Conversely, the independent clauses can go first in the sentence, followed by the dependent clause, as in the following:
Tip: When the independent clause comes first, a comma should not be used to separate the two clauses.
I did not see them at the station because Mary and Samantha arrived at the bus station before noon.
Joe realized that the train was late while he waited at the train station.
Mary and Samantha realized that Joe was waiting at the train station after they left on the bus.

what the differences of compound sentence and compound complex?
BalasHapusThe difference between a compound sentence and complex sentence is that a compound sentence has two independent clauses and a complex sentence has one independent clause and one dependent clause.
Hapushi, can u give example of compound complex?
BalasHapusIt was chasing a rabbit, and the dog jumped over the fence.
Hapusi think i was see this topic twice. in other student. bored.
BalasHapusreally? of course. because we told to make the same topic lol
HapusYour blog is not complete
BalasHapusWhat do you mean by that?
HapusWhat is syntax according to expert?
BalasHapussyntax (the study of sentence structures) was fully formal (based on symbols and rules). At its base, this method uses phrase structure rules, this is according to Noam Chomsky
HapusIs syntax important?
BalasHapusof course this is important, because when we writing we need a structure and syntax is the answer!
